There have been a series of earthquakes all over Iceland, mainly in the north, in the last hours and they will continue.
It started with a 5.7 magnitude earthquake 74km from Akureyri.
This is purely tectonic earthquake activity. It's just the Earth confirming that it's alive! (source: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/)
It's all safe, so don't worry. It's actually pretty exciting to feel this powerful energy and knowing that we're in a safe environment to feel it (if we were in the middle of the urban jungle we should worry, but in the middle of Icelandic nature nothing bad will happen - if we were near a volcano we should keep an eye on it, but there's no volcanic activity nearby).
Did you hear about the earthquakes in Iceland in the place where you are reading this?
